β“˜ This article is for Event Organizers

If you are the Event Owner using Expo Pass for Registration and/or Lead Retrieval you have two options to establish a Stripe Account to process your credit card payments:

There is a 3rd option that can be used along with one of the above, which is to enable Invoicing. This allows your attendees who want to pay by check, cash or PO to submit a billing email address for you to reconcile outside of Expo Pass.

  • To enable the invoicing feature, please reach out to your Success Specialist

❗ Important: Expo Pass only supports US-Based Stripe Accounts. We cannot process payments when connecting a foreign Stripe account to Expo Pass for Registration and/or Lead Retrieval.

Both options have a 4.95% credit card processing fee, but there are some key differences between the 2 that you should consider. Please consult with your Event Success Specialist before moving forward.

πŸ’‘ NOTE: Stripe Accounts in Expo Pass are linked to people, meaning once the account is set up, it will be tied to the Event Owner's email address.

This means after a Stripe account is connected, if the event owner creates an event after that point, it will automatically be linked to their Stripe account.

πŸ’‘ NOTE: No matter the method chosen to receive funds from your registration, you will only be able to see detailed attendee transaction data in the Registration Transactions Report. You will not see any attendee transaction data in Stripe or your bank account. In Stripe it will note Expo with a dollar amount and date/ time of transaction, which can be reconciled on our report.

Filling Out an Expo Pass Merchant Agreement (Stripe)

Expo Pass works with Stripe as their Credit Card processing company. If you would like to go through Expo Pass's Stripe Connect account, you will follow the steps below to fill out a Merchant Agreement.

The Credit Card Processing fee is 4.95%. You do have the option to pass this along to your attendees as a fee when they pay for their registration.

  • If you would like to do this, please reach out to Success for more help before your registration goes live.

❗ Important: When choosing to use Expo Pass's Stripe Connect account through our Merchant Agreement, the Event Owner must be the person logged in and filling out the agreement. It CANNOT be an Event User.

πŸ’‘ NOTE: Merchant Agreements in Expo Pass are linked to people, meaning once the account is set up, it will be tied to the Event Owner's email address.

This means after a Merchant Agreement account is connected, if the event owner creates an event after that point, it will automatically be linked to their Stripe account.

1. Click on Start Merchant Agreement in Registration

2. Check the box next to "I agree..." and click Next

3. On the Identity Verification section, you have two options - select the most appropriate for your needs:

  • Company Information

  • Individual Information

πŸ’‘ Tip: When entering the Address do NOT use a PO Box. This must be a street address.

When entering the Business ID or Social Security number, only use numbers, no dashes -

❗ Important: When choosing Company, the name and EIN of the account must exactly match the name and EIN of the bank account.

**If the company name and EIN do not match exactly, Stripe will suspend and hold payouts until an official IRS document (SS-4 form or a 147C) is submitted and correction is made.

  • To find this information, please check your SS-4 form from the IRS to ensure the company name matches.

4. Now enter your Bank Account Information:

  • Account Number

  • ABA Routing Number

5. Once you have completed all the steps the following will appear on your Expo Pass Registration page and should see Approved. This means your banking information is connected and ready to go live.
