ⓘ This article is for Event Organizers
Attendee Connect is the app your Attendees use to experience your event. Here is what it is, how your Attendees get in, and how to set it up for a smooth event day.
What is Attendee Connect?
Attendee Connect is the new Expo Pass attendee experience. Your Attendees can use it in the Expo Pass mobile app or in any web browser, and they get the same event either way.
With Attendee Connect, your Attendees can:
View your Event Home page, branding and announcements
Browse Sessions, build their own schedule and get to know your speakers
Learn more about your Exhibitors and sponsors
See your sponsorship ads
Chat with other Attendees, Exhibitors and your team (when Chat is part of your package)
❗ Important: Attendee Connect replaces the legacy Expo Pass Mobile App, which is no longer in use. Sponsorship ads and Chat both work in Attendee Connect, so Attendees do not need to switch to a web browser to see them.
How Your Attendees Get In
Attendees get into Attendee Connect with a Magic Link: a unique link, sent by email, that logs them straight into your event. No usernames or passwords needed. There are two types, and both open the same event:
Magic Link | Opens your event in | Best for |
Attendee App Magic Link | The Expo Pass mobile app. Attendees who don't have it yet are prompted to download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play. | In-person events, and Attendees who want the app on their phone |
Web Browser Magic Link | Any standard web browser, with no download needed | Virtual events, and Attendees on locked-down work phones or computers |
👉 Note: Either link works for any event type. Choose the one that fits how your Attendees will join.
Step 1: Turn On Attendee App Access
Before any Magic Links go out, Attendee App Access must be on. This is one setting for in-person, virtual and hybrid events.
1. Log in to Expo Pass and choose the appropriate event.
2. Click Event Settings in the left-hand menu and stay on the General tab.
3. Toggle Attendee App Access to ON and choose the date and time next to Open access on.
4. Click Save.
💡 Tip: The globe next to Attendee App Access shows its status: teal means on, yellow means scheduled and red means off.
For more detail, see the full guide HERE.
Step 2: Send Your Magic Links
Turn on Include Attendee App Magic Link and/or Include Web Browser Magic Link in Event Settings ➡️ Emails. Your Attendees can receive their link three ways:
Registration Confirmation Email: Attendees get their link as soon as they register.
Event Reminder Email: a scheduled email sent to everyone in your event.
Manually: from the Attendee Data table, up to 20 Attendees at a time.

Preview What Your Attendees See
You can see your event exactly as your Attendees will, right from Expo Pass.
1. In your event, click Attendee Connect in the left-hand menu, then Access Attendee App.
2. Your Event Home page opens. To switch views, click Mobile in the top bar, right next to Attendee App Access. This shows you the phone view. Click Desktop in the same spot to switch back.
💡 Tip: For the most accurate view, open your event on your own phone using an Attendee App Magic Link.
Best Practices
Turn on Attendee App Access first. Schedule it to open before your first Magic Link email goes out. Otherwise Attendees will log in and not see your event.
Lead with one Magic Link. Pick the Attendee App Magic Link or the Web Browser Magic Link as your main way in and use it in all of your emails, so Attendees know exactly what to click.
Send reminders. Schedule the Event Reminder Email 1–2 days before your event and again each morning of the event, so the link stays at the top of their inbox.
Use the registration email. Attendees must log in with the same email address they registered with.
Preview before you share. Check your Event Home, Sessions and sponsorship ads in both the Desktop and Mobile views.
Plan your add-ons. Chat is purchased through your Order Form. If you don't see Manage Chat Settings under Attendee Connect, reach out to our team.
FAQs
Do Attendees need to download an app?
Only if you send the Attendee App Magic Link. Attendees are prompted to download the Expo Pass app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The Web Browser Magic Link opens in a browser with no download.
Do sponsorship ads and Chat work on phones?
Yes. Both work in Attendee Connect on phones and computers. They do not work in the legacy Expo Pass Mobile App.
An Attendee logged in but can't see the event. What should I check?
Make sure Attendee App Access is on (teal globe), the Attendee is using the email they registered with, and their Magic Link hasn't expired. Magic Links are valid for 72 hours or until the last day of the event, and Attendees can send themselves a new one.
Can I customize what Attendees see?
Yes. Click Edit at the top of the Attendee App to customize your Event Home, and use Design Mobile Welcome Screen under Attendee Connect to brand the screen Attendees see when they open the app.
