❗ Important: This article is for pre-purchased lanyards only. If you have not purchased lanyards through your Relationship Manager or Account Executive during the sales process, submit your order at shop.expopass.com instead.
❗ Deadline: Your design must be submitted at least 30 days before your event begins, or we will not be able to accommodate custom lanyards. Please allow extra time for edits and adjustments.
Your Custom Lanyard Specs
During your Order Form (OF) process, you already chose the following. You'll need these on hand as you design:

Polyester Satin — smooth-touch premium lanyard for any design
Recycled (rPET) — same great feel and quality, made from recycled bottles
Clip
Single Bulldog — for badges or sleeves with 1 notch
Double Bulldog — for badges or sleeves with 2 notches
Choose How You Want to Design Your Lanyard
There are three ways to get us your artwork. Pick the one that fits you:

B. Design it yourself | Anyone comfortable with Illustrator/InDesign and our templates | Download a template (see Design Templates below), design in it, export a PDF/x-1a |
C. Logo only | If you don't want to design a full lanyard | Send us your logo + a color; we'll lay it out and send a proof |
Option A: Use Our Online Designer
Go to our Lanyard Designer.
Select Lanyards.
Choose your clip to match your Order Form:
Single Ended = Single Bulldog
Double Ended = Double Bulldog
Choose your size to match your Order Form (5/8", 3/4", or 1").
Select Bulldog Attachment Clip — this is the only clip type we offer for custom lanyards.
For Finish, select either metal crimp or stitched — this setting doesn't apply to lanyards, so either works.
Design your lanyard and click Export PDF.
Once you've exported your PDF, head to How to Submit Your Design below.
Option B: Design It Yourself Using Our Templates
If you'd rather design outside the Designer tool, download the template that matches your lanyard size from the Design Templates section at the bottom of this article. Each template includes the exact dimensions our printers require.

Bleed Area: extend your background 0.125" to fill the bleed and avoid white edges.
Lanyard Area (Trim): your final lanyard size, laid flat.
Crimp Placement: keep logos and text outside this zone.
Design Tips
Place your artwork on the "Your Design" layer.
Edit and save your files in CMYK (not RGB).
Outline all text before saving (select all layers → under the "Type" menu, select "Create Outlines").
Use vector artwork for best results.
Images should be 300 PPI or higher for sharp, clear printing.
We'll accept PDF, but we strongly recommend saving as PDF/x-1a whenever possible.

Option C: Logo Only — We'll Design It for You
Don't want to design the full lanyard? Send us your logo and we'll repeat it across a white (or colored) lanyard for you.
Design a full logo in the colors you'd like, at high resolution (300 DPI or greater).
Head to How to Submit Your Design below to send it to us. You will need the following assets for submission:
Your logo file — PNG (for a transparent background) or JPEG (for a solid background), at 300 DPI or greater
Your vector logo file — (.AI or .EPS)
Lanyard color in CMYK or Pantone code (example: Lanyard Color is C: 0 M: 100 Y: 100 K: 0)
Our team will space your logo repeatedly across the lanyard and send you a digital proof for approval before anything goes to print.
How to Submit Your Design
Email your files to operations@expopass.com. What to include depends on the option you used:
❗ Important: If you don't provide a lanyard color (Options B & C), we will print the logo on white.
If you used Option A (Designer):
Your exported PDF
Logo files:
A vector file (.AI or .EPS)
A high-resolution PNG or JPEG

If you used Option B (Your own template):

Tips When Designing Your Lanyard
Place your artwork on the "Your Design" layer
Edit and save your files in CMYK (versus RGB)
Outline all text before saving (select all layers, under the ''Type" menu select "Create Outlines").
Use vector artwork for best results.
Images in your design should be 300 PPI (pixels per inch) or higher, as 300 is the ideal resolution for printing because it produces sharp, clear images.
While we'll accept receipt of your artwork in PDF, we strongly recommend saving the file instead as a PDF/x-1a whenever possible.
