Validate Registrants is to be used only check if an attendee has previously registered (or have been registered by the Event Organizer) to attend that session.
For example:
If you have a Session that is for Members only, you can add a list of members prior to the Session.
Perhaps you have a Session that Attendees needed to pre-pay for, this would also be a great use of the Validation tool. As the Event Organizer, you can add the list of paid Attendees to the Session to ensure that only those who have paid for the Session are permitted access.
Steps
From the Admin Home Page, click Sessions in the left-side navigator.
Enter into the new session or existing session.
In the Session Core Details, scroll down to SESSION RULES, Validate Registrants.
On the New Session page, click Edit Core Details to open the session information form.
Simply check the box and then Save Changes
Experience
By Validating the Session, only those registrants who have pre-registered are eligible for that Session.
When scanning attendees into the Session via the mobile application, the mobile application will alert you as to whether or not the Attendee attempting to enter the Session has registered for it, or was registered by the Event Organizer.
When the attendee is scanned in where Validate Registrants is turned on, and they have not added the session to My Schedule or purchased the Ad-On Session, the scanner's phone will project an error message:
Attendee Not Registered
Please direct the attendee to register for
this session or inquire at the event
registration center.

‼ If you want the Session Scanner to override the scan and allow the attendee into the session, and track it, please make sure the Scanner (an Event User) has the permission checked for "Override Session Scans"
