We're committed to making onsite badge printing as hassle-free as possible at Expo Pass! Our goal is to provide you with all the equipment, software, and badges needed to make your check-in process fast and efficient. That's why we take care of everything, from pre-event testing to packaging, before the equipment is shipped to your venue. We want you to have a seamless experience!

We also understand, however, that as an experienced event organizer you may already have your own badge printing equipment. That's why we've put together this list of equipment options that are compatible with our Expo Pass onsite badge printing experience.

Router

To make sure your iPads and printers are connected and working seamlessly with the Expo Pass database, you'll need to set up your own network. Don't worry though, it's pretty straightforward! Just make sure your iPads and printers are connected to the same network, and that your router has a stable internet source. We recommend a minimum download and upload speed of 10 Mbps, but anything above 20 Mbps would be even better.

Please keep in mind that we are unable to troubleshoot or resolve any issues with your router or internet connection. However, you can reach out to the manufacturer of your router or the venue's AV team (who should be providing the internet source) for assistance.

iPad Kiosk

Our Expo Pass badge printing kiosk is specifically designed to work with Apple iPads (sorry, no Android tablets!). For the best user experience, we recommend using an iPad that's between 9.7" and 10.9" in size.

To make sure everything runs smoothly, please make sure your iPad is updated to the latest version of iOS, and that you've installed the most recent update for the Expo Pass mobile app from the App Store. That's all you need to do!

Direct Thermal Printers

We understand that there are many Direct Thermal Printers available on the market, and that new models are released often (while others are discontinued and no longer supported). It's tough, of course, to test all of them out! However, we do know that the printers listed below work perfectly with Expo Pass Premium Onsite Badge Printing. In fact, these are the same models we use in our rented packages today.

Zebra ZD621 Thermal Transfer Printer, with attached Cutter

Zebra ZD620 Thermal Transfer Printer, with attached Cutter

Zebra ZD500 Thermal Transfer Printer, with attached Cutter

If you own a Zebra Printer and are not sure of the Model #, you can enter the printer's serial number (noted on a sticker on the underside of the printer) on this Zebra Product Warranty Check. The search results will indicate the Product Name (Product Model #).

Expo Pass will provide you with the appropriate printer settings needed to successfully print your badges, as the settings will vary based on the number of badge notches in your badge.

NOTE: If you own a printer that isn't listed above, we can't guarantee that it will work with our Expo Pass badge printing platform. To ensure everything goes smoothly, we suggest using one of the printers we've listed. That way, you'll have a seamless experience!

Printer Badges

When using Expo Pass for your Onsite Badge Printing experience as well as one of the Direct Thermal Printers we've listed above, we can provide you with badges that will work perfectly with them. Our badges come with some really cool options too - like double-sided printing and the option to have zero, one, or two notches on the badge. That way, you'll have badges that are not only functional, but also look great!
